Act 5

The Strategist — Entering the Industry and Learning Its Mechanics

My work behind the camera opened new doors. I was invited to be a judge for my first film festival, where I analyzed films from across the globe. There, I learned how stories land with audiences and what separates good from unforgettable.

This experience brought me into contact with my current mentor, who invited me to help organize the Houston Comedy Film Festival. Now, I was not only creating and acting I was curating and producing within the industry. I worked alongside my mentor to connect with non- profits, local communities, and creative professionals expanding my network and gaining firsthand experience of the business side of the industry.

This was a pivotal chapter because it showed me that:

• Art and business are not separate. They feed each other.

• The film industry values leaders who build communities, not just performers.

• I can bring the same entrepreneurial mindset I used in grassroots projects to professional productions.
